Conventional Models of labor organizing were built on the premise of a ‘closed shop floor’, where workers exsit in physical proximity to each other. These models have been increasingly rendered obsolete as the nature of work and employment relations evolve. With the Swell of app-based subcontracting and remote office arrangments many find themselves isolated from their coworkers (often by design). Thus the digital, despite its complications, has become one of the only spaces where workers can connect, interact and perhaps establish the trust necessary for collective organizing.
