Convection Retainer 2021

Filmed during the early stages of quarantine in a 100 meter apartment, Convection Retainer captures intimate moments of both resilience and entrapment. With its montage choreographed in retrospect, the film uses collage and wallflower like videos to arrange the “rinse and repeat” of an ever preseant pandemic. During this time, like in so many spaces, there was a building of heat, reliable intensity and constant fear of both the present and the future. Emotions spill over across a screen sometimes in joy (medicinal) and sometimes with just enough attention to be felt fully. In these arrangements, the boundary between voyeur and subject blur, the performance of simulated domesticity alien to those performing.
